Gnothi Se Auton - Know thyself
(An inscription on the Oracle of Delphi temple in Ancient Greece.)

We are not here to fit in, be well balanced, or provide exempla for others. We are here to be eccentric, different, perhaps strange, perhaps merely to add our small piece, our little clunky, chunky selves, to the great mosaic of being. As the gods intended, we are here to become more and more ourselves.
(James Hollis: 'What Matter Most: Living a More Considered Life')

Archetypal and Esoteric Astrology deals with issues of consciousness. We use astrology to understand what energies are playing upon us from within and without and how we may understand them in a manner which enables us to grow.

To go beyond who you are, you must first know who you are.

Firstly, we work at undertaking the journey of the Sun, the individuation process. In doing so we uncover just enough of our beautiful shiny soul to see a glimpse of her light; to be encouraged to step above how we normally view ourselves and the world; and to dig deeply to uncover the buried treasure that is your soul. Then, if the will to do good for others is strong, greater journeys also beckon….

Through all of this we travel, life after life, around the wheel of the zodiac, experiencing the different sign personalities and energies that teach us to live in love and wisdom.

This is the focus by which we will explore the 12 signs of the zodiac.

"The presiding one looked forth upon the sons of men, who are the Sons of God. He saw their light and where they stood upon the Way which leads back to the Heart of God. The Way sweeps in a circle through the twelve great Gates, and cycle after cycle the Gates are opened and the Gates are shut. The Sons of God, who are the sons of men, move on.

Dim is the light at first. Selfish the trend of human aspiration, and dark the deeds resultant. Slowly men learn, and in learning, pass between the pillars of the Gates time and time again. Dull is the understanding but in the Halls of Discipline, found in each section of the circle’s cosmic sweep; the truth is slowly grasped; the needed lesson learned; the nature purified and taught." - Alice Anne Bailey, "Labours of Hercules".

The 12 Labours of Hercules are ancient mythological tales that demonstrate the deeper meaning and life-lessons of each sign.

Aries       Labour 1 - The Capture of the Man Eating Mares
Taurus     Labour 2 - The Capture of the Cretan Bull
